The Wolves
| |
Because many of the natural prey animals of the islands have fallen victim to the gluttonous creatures of the underworld, packs of hungry wolves roam the woods, searching for food. Once at the top of the food chain, wolves are now so starved that they will attack anything and everything they encounter, even if it is a clearly superior opponent. The animals are mad with hunger and, because the bony beasts hunt in packs, no one and nothing is safe from them. Many a victorious warrior who tried to plunder his opponent after a hard-fought battle has been driven off from his well-earned booty by wolves suddenly emerging from the underbrush.
